I’m passionate about helping new parents reach their feeding goals, whether it's exclusively latching, exclusively pumping, combination feeding, and anywhere in-between. WHY WORK WITH DANIELLE?
My bona fides
-
My personal philosophy as a lactation consultant:
-
Your baby is YOUR baby and you are my client. Unfortunately, there are lactation consultants who give us a bad reputation, making families feel that direct latching and exclusive breastfeeding is the only acceptable way to feed a baby. I am here to support you, your goals, and what is best for your family, not mine.
-
As a lactation consultant, I believe that every family is unique and deserves personalized support. My goal is to provide you with information and clinical care so that you can make the best decisions for your family.
-
-
Education:
-
I am clinically trained by Carmen Baker Clark, one of New Jersey's top IBCLCs, with over 20 years of experience in breastfeeding support and care. She is an expert on Tethered Oral Tissues (tongue, lip, and buccal ties).
-
I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College in psychology and sociology, and a Master of Public Health with a focus on community health education from Montclair State University.
-
The majority of my graduate-level and professional writing focused on lactation and maternal-infant health.
-
I have attended over 250 hours of continuing education in lactation training.
-
-
Professional:
-
I provided hospital-based clinical lactation care at three New Jersey hospitals for six and a half years, where I worked with over 1,000 babies in their Labor & Delivery, Obstetrics, and the NICU (Level 2 & 3) units.
-
While at University Hospital in Newark, NJ, I regularly lectured to medical students and residents.
-
I have been in private practice since 2016, where I have served 200+ families.
-
Between 2022 and 2024, I served as the NJ WIC State Breastfeeding Coordinator.
-
-
Life experience:
-
I exclusively breastfed my children, my daughter (now in college) for 23 months, and my son (now in high school) for 4 1/2 years.
-
I experienced prenatal depression and severe postpartum anxiety with both of my children so I know firsthand what living with perinatal mood disorder feels like.
-
I provide a unique service.
Drawing on my extensive clinical hospital experience, I’ve developed a specialized telehealth prenatal consultation to help you prepare for your hospital experience and the early days with your baby. Many parents are caught off guard by various conditions and hospital interventions that can disrupt breastfeeding or chestfeeding, so proactive guidance is crucial. I encourage you to take advantage of this unique service; I’m confident you’ll find it incredibly valuable.
